The 2008 Buddha's Birthday Festival, held in Sydney's Darling Harbour and Tumbalong Park was an order of magnitude larger than previous years. Musical performances, arts and craft stalls and food stalls were just a few of the sights, sounds and tastes of the day. Click here to see some of the photos from the day.

2008 Comedy Trivia Night - Success!

On April 12th BLIA YAD Sydney 1 organised and hosted the first ever trivia night at Parramatta Vihara putting on a comedic spin to ensure there were just as many laughs as there were brains ticking. The hosting was performed by Patrick and Raymond who took on the role of novice comedians to entertain the crowd throughout the night. A huge turnout helped with its success with over 9 registered teams of 5/6 fighting for the crown of ‘Trivia King’ for the night. Not only were there questions ranging from geography to music to suit every walk of life, BLIA YAD Sydney 1 also made sure at least 20% of the questions were Buddhist-related to spread Dharma and encouraging further knowledge in Buddhism. We will be holding our first Comedy Trivia Night ever and we welcome everyone to attend. It will be a night of fun, laughter and intrigue, hosted by our very own Ray and Pat. ANZBYC 2008 "Transform and Contribute"

ANZBYC 2008 is almost upon us (just a few months to go!) and applications are now open. This year it will be held at Blue Skies Training and Conference Centre, from 4th - 7th July. It will be hosted by Christchurch YAD under the leadership of Hiking Liu and they have prepared many post conference activities that wil most definitely involve skiing!! Application closing date is 4th June 08 after which a late fee of NZ$30 applies. Early bird discount applies to applications received before 30th April 08. New year, new committee, new website

2008 will be the year of new. There is a new committee structure, new committee members and just now, a new website layout. We have had our first Annual Planning Meeting and I must say we are a lot more organised than we were previously. The committee structure is split up now into three main divisions. Core Committee: Take care of the daily running of the youth group. Advisors: Experienced members who look at long term goals Support Team: Members who would still like to praticipate but do not have as much time or experience. Our planning meeting was very fruitful and we have produced a calendar of events located at here. We look forward to regularly updating the website so please stay tuned!
